Gavlegårdarna replaced property system with Data Platform

Gavlegårdarna is one of Sweden's largest public housing companies, with approximately 60 percent of all rental apartments in Gävle municipality. The vision is ”Feel at home!”, which they hope to live up to for their approximately 30,000 tenants.

The challenge:

At the end of 2025, Gavlegårdarna will shut down its property management system, and will then face a major journey within IT. The choice has stood between moving towards a new, equivalent property management system or freeing themselves and moving towards a more open data platform solution.

Gavlegårdarna has chosen to move towards a data platform, and initiated a collaboration in 2022 with Solution Xperts, who are responsible for the architecture and development of the entire platform in Microsoft Azure.

Initially, the focus has been on foundational architecture and possibilities, and now the construction starts for real.

The result:

Gavlegårdarna is leading the way when it comes to the digitization journey for public housing companies. The company wants to test new solutions and concepts, which in turn will lead to new ways of working with a high focus on structure and owning their own data.

In connection with the introduction of the new data platform, a decision was also made to carry out a PoC (Proof of concept) through Solution Xperts together with Microsoft to answer questions linked to the challenge.

Over the coming years, we will gather Gavlegårdarna's data into one and the same data platform. With the help of the platform, we identify different processes and ensure that the systems/processes interact closely in the overall solution.
